Scott and I just got back from a trip to Northern Cali that included a sit down with the highly regarded technology blogger, Robert Scoble. He conducted a 20 minute video interview with us. Really nice guy and glad we had the opportunity to sit with him.

Here’s the video: A new way to display media online: Dather

After a few months in private beta, several months in development and a year since we started, Dather is finally live. We couldn’t be happier with how the product has turned out and can’t wait for everyone to check it out as we believe Dather is, hands down, the best way to organize and share your social media. So if you haven’t already signed up, please do so: www.dather.com.

We’ve also gone live with the first site integration of Dather. And the honor belongs to Rihanna who has embedded Dather into her brand new website. You can check out the timeline for her upcoming tour at www.rihannanow.com/dather.

We’ll be announcing more partners in the coming days and weeks so stay tuned.

As always, we would love to hear your feedback. You can reach out in the comments here, on our Get Satisfaction page at www.getsatisfaction.com/dather or email us at feedback@dather.com.

Thanks for everyone’s support,

Scott and Kieve

Barbara Bickham from the Examiner.com interviewed Kieve the other day about Dather. Excerpt below and link to the whole article at the bottom.

“Dather also makes it easy for people to use their service on an existing website. “We have an option that allows other sites to leverage their communities and use our system on their currently existing website.” says Huffman. Dather is easy to integrate into the website using an iFrame interface. This allows website owners to easily leverage existing and create new relationships.”

Kieve did an interview with SoCalTech.com the other day and it just went live. It gives a good snapshot of Dather and where we are at at the moment. It’s also the first ink on Dather, so that kind of rules. Have a look at the excerpt below and then click through to read the whole thing, print it out, put it on your wall, frame it, give it as a gift to a friend, etc.

“Good luck trying to share those first birthday party or newborn pictures, especially if you’re using Facebook and Twitter, which are great for real time but really challenging for finding things that happened in the past. What we’re doing with Dather, is we’re creating a single source to be able to assemble photos, updates, videos, blog posts–all those multiple content types–into one place, where you can have a two way engagement with friends and family.”

And keep an eye for our public beta launch, it’s just around the corner.

A lot of similarities here for sure. I’ve definitely been thinking about how close the VC role resembles the A&R role.

Just got off a Skype call with our developers in Buenos Aires and it sounded like there was a lot going on in the background and when I asked where they were working out of they sent me a link to this: Urban Station. Pretty awesome. You pay by the half-hour and get free food and coffee while you’re there. Wish we had something like that around here. Or maybe we do and I’m just not hip enough to know about it. Here are some pics:

Scott Boyd <![CDATA[More Invites and NYC]]> http://www.dather.com/blog/?p=64 2010-01-17T20:14:12Z 2010-01-17T20:14:12Z

Every couple of days we’ve been sending out more invites to the private beta. We’re at about 75 or so now and we are starting to get some really helpful feedback, so thanks for that. We are heading to NYC today for a week of meetings — we’ve packed in close to 30 meetings in 4 and a half days. No doubt it will be a whirlwind, but I know we’ll come away with some great stuff.

We’ve been getting some great feedback from the initial round of beta testers. We’ve made some tweaks to optimize performance and have received some great feature ideas. As soon as some of the more annoying bugs are fixed we will send out a bunch more invites — hopefully in the next week. So keep an eye out for an invite in your inbox.

We launched in private beta today. So far we have only sent invites to 20 people, but we’ll be sending out more in the coming days. We’re pretty excited to finally have some people besides us using the site and I’m sure we’ll get a ton of good feedback. If you haven’t signed up for the beta yet, head on over to Dather and enter your name and email address.
